The mention of ‘Cuba’ brings images so bright and festive that it’s hard not to envision the colors and feel of that beautiful island, the colors that appear in my paintings are the roots of days of youth, love of life, family, beauty, purity of childhood and the wonder of God’s creations.
The blood that runs through my veins is the color of the rooster’s song on an early morning day. That same blood gives my soul the passion to paint these images that are deeply embedded in my heart and soul.
Images to be deciphered by the mind’s eye...
the artwork and the stories behind them, whether there is a story there or not.
Sometimes, silence
tells it’s own story, other times the viewer’s mind is it’s own
interpreter. There is no right or wrong as long as you enjoy the ride…
Born in Cuba, I have lived in the Bergen/Hudson County area of New Jersey for the past 30 + years. My background in the arts is, you could say ‘inherited’. I come from an artistic and musically talented family: my brother is an accomplished musician and multiple Grammy Award winner (Paquito D’Rivera), my father Tito is an orchestra musician and my mother, a lingerie designer and seamstress.
Painting became my passion and my passion’s medium consists of many things….

Mencionar ‘Cuba’ brinda a la mente imagines alegres y coloridas, haciendole dificil no sentir el sabor y ambiente de esa bella isla. Los colores que aparecen en mis pinturas son resultado de dias de juventud, familia, pureza de niñez y la grandesa de las creaciones de Dios.
La sangre que corre por mis venas es del color del canto de ese gallo que kikiriquea al entrar el nuevo dia. Esa misma sangre alimenta mi alma con la pasion necesaria para pintar estas imagines divertidas que estan incrustada en mi corazon.
Imagenes que con sus fabulas deben ser descifradas por el ojo de la mente, aunque halla un cuento ahi, o no….muchas veces el silencio lo desifra y otras veces la mente de el veedor se vuelve en su propio interprete.
De cualquier
manera, disfruten el paseo… y la alegria que les trae.
Rosario D’Rivera
fue nacida en Cuba, criada en Nueva York, y ahora recide en el condado
de Bergen en New Jersey. Su experiencia en el mundo de arte se puede
decir, es heredado de una familia artistica, Su hermano, el maestro
musico Paquito D’Rivera, el gran del mundo de jazz, con multiples
premios Grammies, su padre Tito, tambien saxofonista, y su madre Maura,
diseñadora y costurera en Nueva York por mas de 30 años. Rodeada de
musica y arte toda su vida, sus temas (o visuales) les recuerda al ser
humano que hay que reir y vivir!
